A Word From The Head Priest

Winter is not something I look forward to, although I try as often as I can to think that a wise Hellenist doesn't hate any season, but understands the purpose and beauty behind all things. There are so many wonderful things about life that no one could ever run out of things to do or think about. The only actual bad thing about winter, I imagine, is the fact that our temple has its least functioning period in the sense of public events and activities, for obvious reasons. The Illinois winters are commonly brutal in temperatures, although recent years haven't been as bad as previous ones. Our temple will resume regular activities in the spring, with the weekly live demos rite being our primary function during the winter months. I ask that all members and clergy consider being ready to take flight with us once the spring of 2021 arrives, as we are planning many new activities such as our environmentalist efforts with the Adopt A Highway program that we were approved for this year. There is also strong hope that there will be a Covid vaccine by this time, so perhaps this will also mean that we can fully resume physical gatherings at our public festivals throughout the spring and summer. Happy times will come again, although I have always believed that happiness is a state of mind, a choice we make, no matter our situation.

In the Goodness of the Gods,
Priest Christopher.

Temple News

The temple began constructing a free education page on its website for ancient Hellenic theology back in September, and has new plans to release its full completion in early 2021.

The temple is considering new clergy appointments in 2021, and still has a job opening for its Board of Directors for those who meet requirements and qualifications.

The temple is considering sectioning a part of its outside grounds as a cemetery for members, clergy and Hellenists in general, pending the requirements and approval of the state. Should the temple go forward with it, only cremated remains can be interred, and monuments or markers must be provided by the deceased or their family.
